Home Sales to Rebound in 2025 with Slower Price Growth

Home sales are expected to rebound next year while prices will rise more slowly, the National Association of Realtors said. Boston, Phoenix, and Grand Rapids, Mich., could be 2025’s hottest housing markets. Mortgage rates are expected to “stabilize” at around 6% next year, more than half a percentage point below Thursday’s 6.6% weekly average for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, according to Freddie Mac. That will lure more buyers to the market.

The 10 best housing markets, according to criteria including affordable inventory, a better chance at lower mortgage rates, higher income growth for young adults, and net migration, are Boston, Phoenix, Charlotte, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Mich., Greenville, S.C., Hartford, Conn., Kansas City, Mo., and Knoxville, Tenn.
